IMPORTANT UPDATE

I haven't had a chance to blog recently but in my absence i have made major changes to my assessment and completed my assessment task. I decided to go with the topic of power bands because it is a very highly debated topic and i wanted to discover its validity myself.

Here is a list of some of the websites which have helped me with my research:

Here is a preview of my research, the full research section can be seen in my official report:

What is a Power band?
A performance technology - Silicone wristband that uses holograms embedded with frequencies that react positively with your body’s natural energy field to improve balance, strength, and flexibility.
What does it claim to do?
Power Balance silicone wristbands claim to tap into our bodies’ natural energy and balance it according to our needs.

CHANGE OF PLANS

I have decided to go with a completely different topic to research and experiment purely because i am not enjoying the concentration idea.
The new idea i have chosen is how the colour of milk affects people’s opinions on taste and flavour. For example i will give the consumer a shot of different coloured milk and see their opinion on the taste and flavour as well as their idea on how appetising it is.
I will get back with my experiment method.

The topic I have chosen to do my SRP on is...
'How can background noise effect the way people concentrate?'

My Experiment can be something like this...

Aim: to test the affect of background noise on human concentration.

Materials: Worksheets (probably find a words), noise such as radio and people activities.

Number of people: 4
Independent variable: Level (or loudness) of background noise
Dependent variable: Mark the person got on the test and feedback
Controlled variable: Time in minutes and seconds, of how long the person lasts without being distracted

Method:
What i am going to do: First off I am going to have four people in a room doing work, and record how long they're concentration lasts for before they get distracted. The background noise will be very loud. Second i will repeat this but in a room with medium level background noise. Third, i will do this with low level background noise and fourth I will repeat this with Silence and no background noise.
I will record, in each circumstance, how long the people i have chosen can concentrate for without being distracted.

Once completed, my experiment will include a table of results, discussion and conclusion.
Keep in mind DICE RRR

IDeas

MY BUBBL.US MINDMAP
Some ideas i have right now are...
- Can background noise levels affect how well we concentrate?
- Does the colour of a room affect human behaviour?
- Can people tell artificial smells from real ones?

For the first idea i could do an experiment where i get a person to read a passage of information in silence and then with various levels of background noise. I can then see with which level of noise they can absorb the information better in or whether there is an effect at all.

For the second idea i could have several people in different rooms with different coloured walls for a couple of minutes and they can rotate. I can observe their behaviour.

An idea of an experiment for the third idea is i can get about 5 people, get them to smell several artificial foods and several real foods and see if they pick up the artificial smells.
